A powerful story has a knack for sticking with us and shaping the way we see the world.
And when it comes to great storytellers, few compare to Mother Nature. Many of us can recall a moment when nature left us awestruck, a moment that gave us perspective on who we are, where we fit in the universe, and what matters most.
But like so many fleeting moments in life, these experiences can pass without leaving a lasting mark on how we live.
Countless times in the backcountry, I've thought to myself, "Everyone would be better off with an experience like this."
Through my photography, I hope to carry those moments home, inspiring a deeper connection with nature and a personal commitment to protecting it.
BOBBY BURCH
I'm Bobby Burch, a nature and wildlife photographer.
I've been carrying a camera into the backcountry for over a decade, ever since my first backpacking trip in Zion National Park. My favorite hours are the early ones, hiking in the dark toward a ridge or a meadow I hope will catch the first light. Those mornings have brought me face to face with elk, bear, moose, bighorn sheep, and more birds than I can count. I'm usually the most excited person on the trail at sunrise, and I've never been sorry I got up early.
I'm a writer and journalist by training, so for me, every photograph tells a story about a place, an animal, and why both are worth protecting. My work has raised more than $1,000 for the National Parks Conservation Association so far, and I'm looking for more ways to put my photography to work for public lands and the organizations that protect them.
